If you look closely at quality of the work, it's top-notch. All the pieces have very little to no bubbling and no bad clouding. It's certainly not something than can be done with no practice. There's a lot more to making this than just making sugar and pouring it in the molds.

when I was a child living in Lititz pa. there was a man named renolds, that would build a ship with masts, an all the rigging an cannons 1 a year, then he would auction it off an donate the money to different charities. it was all made out of molded sugar, museums would come in from all over the world to bid on these ships, I am retired now an think about him or his sons still making the ship

So all those pieces had to be made in clay of some sort to make the silicon molds, so theoretically there is all the pieces out there to make this a permanent sculpture.
