This is a great topic Stewart! Run and gun wide-open, manual, dreamy insect macro is precisely what I was drawn to when I started shooting. Can't even remotely tolerate blade bokeh and busy backgrounds...oh no thank you, I'll pass. These newfangled swivel screens on bodies today make Stewart's technique here easier and attainable for beginners - frame the dreamy background angles, focus insect eyes and importantly shoot with intention...like there's film in your camera!
