Crazy that I watched this Hindenburg episode 19 years ago and yet Im watching it again with just as much curiosity as the first time.

they should have filmed it with black and white film also. I have a feeling that a hydrogen flame might expose on film as more visible than when observed with the naked eye. This even more true with film from that era.

For the blimp one... I feel like they needed another blimp. Hydrogen and no thermite

Honestly, the horrifying thing is that ALL the scale models, EXCEPT the one coated in thermite, burned slower than the actual Hindenburg. Think about that. It takes a scale model totally coated in thermite to catch the real time of something fifty times that size being reduced to a buckled, twisted, (effectively) wire frame.

The real Hindenburg moved at an angle when it was on fire nose pointing up, so that’s how it burned faster

0:52 did he just say that SIXTY people survived the Hindenburg disaster? That I did not expect. When he said there were ninety souls onboard I thought there would be ninety fatalities. I wonder if there’s anyone watching this that descends from a survivor.

What was missing from the Hindenburg experiment was a hydrogen filled, cotton skinned blimp. If that hadn't burned quickly, it means that the skin is critical for the catastrophe to occur, which imo would confirm the myth, since the myth wasn't that thermite is dangerous, but that it is what makes a hydrogen filled blimp as dangerous as it is.
