The real Ade (the one down below) couldn't talk properly because of Red strangling her as a child. It left her with permanent damage to her vocal cords. They never switched back as adults, so the real Red killed the real Ade. Her son knew because of the feral noises and we can only guess that the Real Ade told him before she was killed.

‘Real’ Adie knowing the way to get to the tunnels also reveals her true nature

Jason was in a locker nearby while Shadow Addie and above ground Addie fought. It is likely he heard, and now understands that his mother was one of the shadow people who escaped when she was a child. That realization would be enough to make you look at your mom crazy and pull your mask down. Great reaction!

40:50 I think the reason why she cut her own face was because she had to match Kitty's plastic surgery that she mentioned when they were at the beach

I believe that Jason suspected his mom because he could see & hear her acting like them, all feral & guttural. He first thought something was strange when his mother was killing one of the twins. She sounded like them, bloodthirsty.
🖤🌹🖤🧛🏻‍♀️

a fun fact that hasn’t really got anything to with the plot, the girls that played the twin daughters of the other family in this movie are the same twins that played rachel’s baby in friends!

21:01 I watched Us in theaters and during this scene with the lights out and the Tethered outside you could hear a pin drop, everyone was so tense. Except for one guy who yelled "DON'T GO OUT THERE STUPID, THERE'S FOUR OF 'EM!" when the dad tried to run them off with the bat. Cue nervous laughter. Which turned to shrieks when 22:59 happened. 10/10 experience.

I remember when the trailer came out the “I Got 5 on It” song was already a classic hip-hop track so hearing it everyone was hype then the way they remixed it into that horror mix was eerie but 🔥🔥🔥 Then you watch the movie and realize it’s scarier than a typical horror film, because it feels like real life. It’s two sides of the world. The Tethered are like the forgotten people the country pretends not to see, and the doppelgängers show how privilege vs. struggle shapes who we become. Even the scissors and the Hands Across America stuff point to how the U.S. loves symbolism but ignores real issues. It’s not just a horror movie Jordan Peele is so good at that.

Real Adie was killed. Shadow Adie is alive at the end. And her son figured it out... or was told by real Adie.
