He deserved at least nominations for Prisoners, Nightcrawler and Southpaw. Which he did back to back to back mind you. He was on an absolute tear in the 2010’s and the academy just refused to acknowledge him

I still don't understand how they didn't give him an Oscar for his role in prisoners, in general that movie is a work of art 🌟

He’s one of the few actors where I will watch something just because he’s in it

What makes him so great is that he's still traumatized by Donnie Darko.

He and Hugh Jackman KILLED it in Prisoners. Like HOW neither won an Oscar for that movie is INSANE to me.

The fact that Donnie Darko and Bubble Boy came out the same year proves how insane Jake’s range really is

He deserves an oscar for most of his roles to be completely honest

Gyllenhaal and Ryan Gosling are some of the greatest actors of our generation and one thing that people who do think they are great forget is that they are also great comededians and comedy actors despite them not playing any comedic roles

His performance in nightcrawler as Lou Bloom will forever be one of my favorite acting performances of all time. I was amazed that so many haven't even heard of that movie and when I suggested it to them they were blown away by his immaculate acting as well

Jarhead was for me his best role, in the beginning he played it like just a normal, casual dude joining the marines but as soon as he starts training he's getting a little weirded out and adjusting and then as soon as he's settled in he starts acting like the others, and then when the war breaks out he starts losing his shit and acting out, then when everything is over he goes back home, back to normal but with trauma, but he's got nobody to shoot at and nobody to report to, he makes it feel so empty, so real.

Jake Gyllenhaal is an actor whose movies are consistently incredible. Whenever someone asks for movie recommendations, I always suggest they just search up his filmography and choose any title. It doesn't matter which one they pick because all of his movies are top-tier.
