  I am 60 years old, I remember all this growing up in the Bronx.  I still live in the Bronx, my kids can't believe it was like this..

  Hey yall im 59 years old and lived through the fires in the South Bronx.  Our building got burnt down while we was still living there in 1972 on Byrant ave. Luckily everyone got out safe. But this started in 69 the fires until the 80's. But after we was burnt out we moved to the projects finally in 73. But I stilled saw the destruction of the South Bronx and can remember when Reagan and the pope and Carter come. When we move to the projects it was better back then. But I will never forget.

  I’m 50….. 1975 baby…. I remember those burned down buildings….  The Bronx taught me resiliency….  I no longer live in New York but thanks to my Bronx upbringing I learned to overcome and persevere… and I am now successful in my own right….  this Bronx Girl left the Bronx but the Bronx will never leave me

  I'm 55 years old black man born and raised in the '70s. I live through all of this... Through birth of hip Hop, gang violence, people dying from crack almost everyday. It was one of the most interesting times but it was also one of the most scary times in the Bronx.

  I'm not from the city, but the city has always been a part of my life. It blows me away to see how neglected and abused the people are and how resilient the communities are. People Power in Action!

  I'm from the Bronx and I'm the generation of kids who grew up after the fires. The burnt and vacant building were my playground. It was hard to have pride when the place you live is full of broken glass and dog shit. I see now that I'm someone who survived when everything against me was set up before I was born. I saw the drugs and the crime since I was like 5. I remember people, my friends being murdered. No cops can to my neighborhood during that time, just like there weren't enough fire engines to stop the fires.

  I lived through this… it impacted my life more than anyone can imagine.  It shaped the core of me and my life.  I’m still angry 😡 and the worst part is that these companies are still doing the same thing all over the world.

  I grew up in the South Bronx too, in the Melrose section during the ’70s, and I saw many building fires and burned-out buildings. The smell of smoke was often everywhere, and some blocks looked like war zones - it was that bad. I don’t live in the city anymore, but it blows my mind how those neighborhoods look today, a huge improvement. Kudos to the filmmakers of this fascinating documentary, as well as to the brave souls who weathered the storm.
