  I learned this valuable lesson watching an interview with Billy Gibbon&apos;s guitar tech. &nbsp;He was asked how they get the same sound out of all the different guitars he plays. &nbsp;The tech brought him over to the tone rack and showed him the rack mount EQ. &nbsp;He said that every guitar Billy plays on stage has been precisely EQ&apos;d to match the tone of Pearly Gates. &nbsp;Which means, the more channels on the EQ the more precise the tone. &nbsp;I personally have a 7 channel EQ, but eventually I want a larger more precise EQ pedal. &nbsp;More importantly is knowing how to use it correctly. &nbsp;Great advise Glen!

  I was lucky, as a kid i got an EQ pedal as my 3rd ever pedal (after RAT and a dod stereo flanger) because I asked my local music store owner what i should get. Glad i listened! Helped me shape my tone/distortion for years without buying anything new.

  Glenn nails it again. You can&apos;t do much better than Glenn Fricker when it comes to knowing what actually works and what actually matters. One of the best videos on what actually matters when it comes to guitar tone.

  The only reason i have boutique pickups is... i won them. So why not put em in my cheap home made guitar. Will be adding an EQ.
