I agree. Hulk #180 is Wolverine's 1st appearance... it's him, whole body in full color... Hulk #181 is the 1st cover appearance... NUFF... SAID. 😁

"First appearance" mean FIRST appearance! I'm with Marvel on this one, Wolvie's first is #180. Markets be damned!

Yes the conversation would be diffrent. Because it would then be a cameo.. But he shows up in full force head to claws to toe in 180.

That listing of Hulk 180 as first appearance is not the first time marvel list Hulk 180 as wolverine first appearance. 180 was listed wolverine first appearance on the marvel trading cards series in the 90s.

This first appearance argument never gets old. But I think #180 is the first appearance. I don’t have either book but if I was going to buy one I’d go for 180. Not necessarily because it’s less than 181 but because I feel it’s the actual first appearance

I like the idea of a “1st appearance” being the literal 1st time a character is fully revealed visually, even if it is just a one panel shot. A shadow or partial shot is a cameo.

Marvel has been saying Hulk 180 is his first. From what I’ve been told, there’s no such thing as a cameo at marvel.

Recently got into comics, a month ago at most, and this channel and the key collector app has helped me so much to navigate into the comic community and I’m so thankful for that!

It’s weird for me. I do consider hulk 181 the first wolverine, but for Mary Jane I consider ASM 42 her first appearance, because the build up, when she was mentioned in asm 15, and then she was shown with her face blocked, then finally her face was revealed in 42 with the “face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot”. Wolverine just sprung up on the very last panel to let you know what to expect in 181 seems like 181 should be first.

If I see you for your first time ever. No matter the time elapsed, you appeared to me. I seen Wolverine in Incredible Hulk 180, therefore, that's his first appearance.

180 is the first appearance. If you have to say "first FULL appearance" that's an acknowledgment that he's already appeared briefly. Call it a cameo or whatever, it's a first appearance.
