  being raised in the arizona desert around phoenix i used to mess with maricopa harvester ants we used to go outside at recess and give them crumbs of tortilla chips or bread, then when i realized after a dare that they do sting and bite really hard if i wanted to take a day off from school i would go and pick one up in our front yard, because they were everywhere, i would hold it down with my finger on my arm until it got me then brush it off and a few minutes later my arm would be swollen to twice the normal and my mom would make me stay home all day alone so i could eat whatever drink whatever watch whatever on tv, it was the 70s and i was a kid

  I had an unknown species of red ants in my backyard. Disturb their nest and they literally exploded out of the nest, running in all directions in seconds. Insecticide was marginally effective. Borax/honey mix never bothered them and just made them happy to consume the bait. The only thing I found that worked was a spray bottle of 1/2 pint size, filled with water with 2 tablespoons of dish soap added then mix it into a solution. Spraying the ants almost immediately immobilized them and then they died. Apparently the soap dried out and sealed their spericals and they just suffocated. The mix works on any insect that I have encountered.

  I sat on an ant &nbsp;hill and , got stung &nbsp;by wasps as a kid. Made me stronger... sugar ants can be dreadful!!
