Update: The POTA Board of Directors has released a statement about the situation. You can find it here: https://q5hamradio.substack.com/p/parks-on-the-air-board-statement. We well continue following up on this, but please understand that this will take some time.

Also: Personal attacks will be deleted, this is not acceptable. Period.

US Ham here, and first I've heard of it, thank you. I'm very surprised at this, and I'm very confused and concerned. I hope it resolves positively for everyone.

Great video. It's good to have the support and feedback from another European country. Hopefully, the issues at hand will be discussed constructively ASAP to clear the situation and ensure a bright future for the POTA program. Fingers crossed.

POTA is repeating what has happened in the past in SOTA with German summits being removed en mass by the central body (because they didn't meet the rules) against the wishes of the local management. It is very difficult to run a multi national scheme with central and local level of management. In short it's a nightmare. I have seen lots of difference between how POTA is run in the US and in several other countries. These central groups do not answer to anyone as it is not a "club" with an elected board, which means it is very difficult to have a "control structure". Let me be clear here, the central group do a LOT of good work in all these schemes. The problem is how to get a better structure to SUPPORT the central team. 73 Ed

I guess the problem is that the square hole just suddenly got a lot smaller than the round pegs over night... After years of ignoring the issue that the rules have to be adapted to work in an international program, this comes as a nasty surprise.

Epic communication failure from the board. The ball is firmly in their ground now and I hope they switch on their brains before deciding what to do next...

I think Bob's analysis left out an incredibly important layer, which gave POTA a lot of its advantage over WWFF when it grew internationally: its IT infrastructure. I said it before and I'm saying it again: POTA would not have gained so much traction if their app/website (and, more importantly, its backend) wasn't so much better than everybody else's. Any replacement to POTA, be it WWFF or something new, would have to provide something as good or even better to manage park databases, leaderboards, awards, etc. at a global scale.

Not uploading activation logs means all those hunters that you worked will not advance towards the awards they are trying for. So the statement 'it doesn't hurt anyone ' isn't correct. 73 Ed
