Lived for 25+ years in North America, got TOEFL 90+ score some good years ago, and you uncover for me English aspects hidden in plain sight. Amazing, thank you!

I remember that commercial on TV that I saw in Germany years ago.

The setting was a dark room with some screens and it was the emergency response office of the coast guard. The supervisor showed the new employee where he can sit and where the microphone is which he was supposed to use when responding to vessels in distress. Soon after the supervisor left the room an emergency call arrived from a vessel and the radio chattered "Emergency, we are sinking, emergency, we are sinking". The cost guard then responded with a heavy German accent saying something like: "Hello, zhis iz zhe cost gard, what are yu sinking about? - cut to black and the name of an English language school popped up on the screen and a voice said how important learning or pronouncing English is. It probably was the best advertisement I ever saw on TV. Thinking and sinking probably sounded quite similar to him. 😅
