I really respect and appreciate this channel, it’s a real tragedy each one of these videos isn’t getting over 1 million views, such a great way to learn history.

I've always admired & appreciated Dickens for over 50 years but did not know a single thing about his life. Thank you so much for this amazingly well put together biography.

I read Pickwick Papers when I was 12 and became a fan and 60 years on I still am. Thanks for this enlightening biography I did know some things but not all the complexities of his life.

History is much more interesting when someone like you does all this research and compiles it in a video with nice pictures

I bless the BBC’s marvelous filmed productions of several of Dickens’s novels for inspiring me to give them another reading. How glad I am that I did! His characters and their names are second to none. To this day Ralph Nickleby and Mr Tulkinghorn are two of the most devious and black hearted villains in all of literature. Smike’s death still does me in any time that I read or watch it.

On the other Dickens was also a sadist who psychologically abused his wife Catherine because she’d lost her figure and was worn out from having child after child. His rubbing his illicit relationship with Ellen Ternan in Catherine’s face and trying to turn his children against her shows his cruelty. He was also a narcissist who expected praise and adulation from everyone he knew along with his legion of fans. A very complicated man.
