I'm old enough that I remember when 10% was a standard tip, 15% was really good service, and 20% was exceptional.

I saw a news story not too long ago where the reporter was asking workers at places with kiosks showing tip percentages, whether the workers actually receive those tips. At every place, the workers said no, all the tips went directly to the owners and the employees don't receive them.

I'm from Norway, and I'm so glad we don't have a tipping culture here. I can go to a restaurant or coffee shop with no tipping.

Ungodly greed, exacerbated by private equity, has pitted workers against working & middle class consumers. Pay workers a fair wage & offer consumers a fair price. It's disgusting.

One time I spent $40 on an awful haircut I literally asked if the stylist was going to fix it he's like no. Then he asked me for a tip. How are you going to ask an unsatisfied customer for a tip? It wasn't even worth leaving a negative review. That barber shop is a ghost town.
