Spetsnaz trained for war with raw power and relentless simplicity. I rebuilt their methods into a modern training system: The Soviet Kettlebell Protocol. Brutal. Efficient. Real. Available now at wildhuntconditioning.com.

Not new to me, I had a soviet military P.E. teacher. Ill add another point about the concrete drop. How they came up with it is trivially funny-they saw a drunk guy fall off a 3 story building and not break any bones. They studied the right relaxation needed for it, and used it for high jumps without parachutes. Another thing they did was collect hours. Two weeks before a mission, they would blind all windows in the morning till noon and do nothing in those two weeks, just relax and have fun. They went to sleep for 10+ hours every day with no stress and commanders would wake them up like a mother would a child, just zero stress those few weeks. This allowed them to function on a couple hours as if they slept a full 8, for weeks. Notice how you can't seem to get enough sleep from one good night sleep after a week of 2 hour night naps. Your body lost hours you need to make up with good sleep.

I really like the breakdown. I try to do some similar research back in 2000 but there was not enough information out there. Good stuff you found.

I am in a rebuilding phase of my athletic training. I am building up to a point where I can start this kind of training. Thank you for the inspiration

Maybe consider interviewing Pavel Tsatsouline, he knows kettlebells and could give some insight into the old Soviet training systems.

Interesting video! I did Combat Sambo a couple of years in the 90s. Absolutely brutal. I specifically remember how the instructor taught throws and takedowns meant for hard surfaces; if there was an edge near by (like a curb) the plan was to make the head, or back of the head of the opponent hit that edge. Ouch!
The majority of the student only wanted the Sport Sambo, so I ended up doing private training with the instructor. Sometimes after my private sessions I would stay and do some Sport Sambo with the rest of the students.
