  Raymond O&apos;Sullivan is his real name. &nbsp;His producer, Gordon Mills suggested that he change his first name to Gilbert as a play on words - &quot;Gilbert and Sullivan&quot;. &nbsp;Gordon produced his first hit, Alone Again, Naturally and he was waiting for a follow-up song. &nbsp;Their relationship was getting tense waiting for the next song so Gilbert would sometimes babysit for Gordon&apos;s daughter when mom and dad wanted a night out. &nbsp;The daughter is Clair Mills, which sparked the writing that would be Gilbert&apos;s next hit. &nbsp;That is the real three-year-old Clair Mills giggling at the end of the song. &nbsp;Since Gilbert&apos;s real name was Raymond, &nbsp;he was &quot;Uncle Ray&quot;. &nbsp;This song is still very special to Clair and she resents all the reactions of something weird going on. &nbsp;There you have it.

  His managers daughter-sadly they fell out in the 1980&apos;s when O&apos;Sullivan found out the guy had been ripping him off. He would later reunite with Clair.

  Love this song so much !!!!!❤ I’ve never seen the video !! I was introduced to Gilbert through Alone Again , Naturally so then i began to follow his music .. I bought Clair on a 45 … it never crossed my mind that he was singing about a much younger girl …I was in high school when this came out … Catholic high school so my mind would have never gone there … lol

  It&apos;s just an uncle and his niece. My uncle loved me. He wasn&apos;t trying to date me. Not everything is evil or pervy. There are family relationships that are just innocent and normal. I understand that there are dark things out there and we are careful, but it&apos;s okay to just love your family. When I was a kid, I loved my dad so much, I would say, &quot;Im going to marry you.&quot; Little girls will say that sometimes not understanding what it means. We need to not make everything bad.

  The &apos;70s was a more innocent time, when lyrics like these didn&apos;t raise an eyebrow. &nbsp;There was a baseline trust that people didn&apos;t have perverted intentions, whereas today, the assumption leans the other way regarding anything that sounds ambiguous.

  Clair sounds familiar, not too sure.? Looked at his Music catalog I do remember Matrimony 1971 and Alone again 1972, <br>maybe What’s in a kiss? Do remember his Christmas song 🧐😉 Lovely trip down memory lane 😊 Thanks HarriBest 🎉

  Everything Gilbert O&apos;Sullivan did was very sweet and innocent, it seemed to me then. I was about 9 so who knows. If it were bad stuff, I hardly think he would sing about it!
