  The BBC has had "journalists" based in China for the last 50 years on full pay plus expenses. NOT once have they produced an excellent story about the country like this! Bravo!

  We were in Guangzhou and my son hit his head and threw up twice. We went to the hospital and got a CT scan right away. No forms, no waiting, didn’t even need to pay. Thankfully, he was all right.

  We're in Australia, my wife is Chinese. After months of waiting for specialists, my stepson went to China to visit family and had an operation there. No waiting, done and back.

  I am a Malaysian in Shenzhen and tore my meniscus during a football match. Surgery was on the next day after tests done and results obtained on the same day of the injury occurred. Oh, the injury happened at around 7pm on Saturday night. You can imagine the efficiency.  By Tuesday morning, I was discharged. I can't thank Dr. Zhong Ke Ming enough from Southern University of Science and Technology Hospital in Shenzhen, China.

  We were in a tour group last year in China when one our members had a flare-up of his gout and was in great discomfort, and could barely walk. After lunch, one of the tour guides took him to a public hospital, where he was seen by a doctor and immediately given IV medication. He was back before dinner and was charging around with the rest of us after that. Total medical bill 40 RMB (US$5.86).

  A close friend is fighting late-stage lung cancer and depends on targeted therapy to keep going. In the U.S., it costs around $9,000 a month which insurance pays for a good portion. The same treatment in China is under $600 a month without insurance.  Hope you never get cancer but China is absolutely wonderful for high end medical care
