Arms drop. From the top, take your trail hand off and let the club fall to the ground. Don't swing it, don't slam it; let it land. Five times, slowly.<br>2. Shift. Seventy to eighty percent of your weight on your lead foot, chest a little ahead of the ball, hips over your lead heel. Shift, not sway: the pressure moves into the lead foot while your chest stays over the ball.<br>3. Turn. Legs, hips and chest rotate toward the target as the club comes down. This is what carries the mark to the target side of the line.<br>4. Get taller. Keep turning and stand up as you turn through the ball, not before it. The club brushes the turf instead of digging in.<br>Setup: ball in the centre of your stance, a tee one club head in front of the ball to take away. Let the club drop to find your low point, and keep the ball two to three ball widths behind it.<br><br>One easy thing you can do tonight: on the carpet at home, take your backswing, let go with your trail hand and let the club fall, five times, slowly. Feel how far down your arms have to travel.<br><br>Tell me honestly: when you let the club drop, did it hit the ground or stop in the air? And do you practise on grass or on a mat?
