  Nobody is calling a 318 '69 Barracuda a 'Muscle Car' ffs. That would be secretary level specification. Also, I don't think I've ever heard ANY Chrysler 3 speed automatic from the '60's through '90's described as either 'slow' or 'lazy'. Most consider them harsh and quick compared to the slow and lazy GM and Ford contemporaries.

  The Dodge Polara was never marketed as a muscle car. It was a family grocery getter. &nbsp;Dodge had the Coronet 500 and Charger for muscle cars.

  When I was a teenager growing up in the 1960&apos;s , the most wrecked car most likely due to <br>racing was the 1966 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS396 ! I saw a lot of them in junkyards in the <br>late 1960&apos;s and early 1970&apos;s .

  CHEVROLET produced three cars with the same body type and the only difference was the <br>amount of chrome trim on the body :<br>CHEVROLET IMPALA ( since 1958 ) : maximum chrome trim<br>CHEVROLET BEL AIR ( since 1950 ) : some chrome trim<br>CHEVROLET BISCAYNE ( since 1958 ) : little to no chrome trim<br><br>NOTE : of course you paid more for the extra chrome trim !

  Just a thought, there was a place in the mopar lineup for a snazzy looking car with modest performance. We called them all show and no go. If you needed a bit more performance drop a hemi and a set of 488 gears in one.

  Base models weren&apos;t muscle cars these were affordable cars for most consumers if these cars were only in performance versions sales would of been low for all manufacturers
