The black and grey pedigree label was the first official label for pedigree books. CGC replaced that label with a gold label.

I bought a copy of chamber of chills in 1992- 93 from the original owner for $75. Turns out it would have been part of the Bethlehem collection. Best part graded at 9.0 sold 65000 during covid

The fact that Chamber of Chills is a pedigree coupled with OW/W when most are Cream or worse is a great hedge. That black & sliver pedigree label is sick on that black cover book too.

CGC did too many favors for that promise collection. That Tec is only 1 example. About the only actual legit pedigree I am aware that has many low grade books is the Okajima & that was because that kid at the time was in an interment camp & collected WWII books there. A 0.5 “pedigree”? Because CGC didn’t want to offend the submitter for promise? C’mon.
