¿A quién pican más las abejas y las avispas?

Wasps and bees. Is it true that they don't sting people randomly? Why is the same sting deadly for a bee but not for a wasp? And which of us do they choose more often: the one who waves their arms or the one who remains motionless? The answer, in the end, is unexpected. A warm day, a table in the garden, a glass of lemonade. Two very similar visitors fly toward it almost simultaneously, and almost everyone mistakes them for each other. One is soft, rounded, and hairy: the bee, a vegetarian, bound its entire life to nectar and pollen. The other is smooth, shiny, with that incredibly thin waist: the wasp, a predator that hunts other insects. Where the bee gathers, the wasp attacks. In this video, we place them side by side and time every step, from the flapping of their wings to the sting. You'll see why the buzzing sounds different for each one, and above all, the big difference: a bee's stinger is a barbed harpoon, and when it stings, it gets stuck with part of its body, so the bee dies. For it, stinging a person is like signing its own death warrant: a small act of sacrifice for the hive. A wasp's stinger, on the other hand, is smooth and reusable; it stings, moves away, and can sting again. We also share something that almost no one knows: when a bee stings, it releases a substance that smells very similar to a banana and marks the spot so that others will attack right there. That's why a sting is almost never just one. And we debunk the August myth: why wasps become more annoying at the end of summer, and why bees and wasps are especially irritated by sudden movements, dark clothing, and sweet perfume.
