the rice you ate with the barbecue is called 'puso' or hanging rice, called as such because vendors usually hang them in their stalls. You can only see it sold mostly in visayas, another way of cooking rice, popularized because it's quite convenient if you don't have utensils available to use when your eating, one hand holding the puso the other hand holding the barbecue and your good to eat it without needing plate and spoon, best during beach time, picnic and quick meals during travels. The wrap is coconut leaves, weaved and then filled with rice grains half of it's capacity. Then it's cooked in boiling water in a pot.

You should come and visit Mindanao, specifically Cagayan de Oro, the gateway to Mindanao being a stone throw away from Camiguin (white island,hot and cold springs, and volcanoes), Bukidnon (Dahilayan Nature Park, White Water Rafting, etc), and Iligan (Waterfalls, kalesa ride).

Siquijor "was" the best island in the PI 4 yrs ago. sadly but good in many ways good tourists have found this once hidden gem.
