My first car in 1976 was a '68 Fastback with the fuel injection. It was already rusting out, even then. When it rained, my feet would get wet.

ex REME, had a brown L reg Fastback, bought for 470 - 00 in the 70's, bit of a dog, liked the two boots, for a few thousand miles - tho. A delightful razor edge LHD Karman Ghia , for few hundred kms. A yellow LHD Type 2 - 50,000m incl a new motor, Replaced the front axle on it, a swine of a job with my Dad, because of the torsion bars, flown from Gutersloh by the Crabs, via Norway and fitted in Stirling, where it took 11 folk first -footing - the most fun of them all, pin sharp steering , when descending the Alps, carrying six windsurfers and passengers to Lake Garda. Many smiles per mile!!

My dad had a Variant, very roomy, smooth running and to us really posh, a great looking car.<br>Fond memories.
