I actually read in a book about the first world war where national guard units from the south would actually go over the top using the rebel yell which terrified the Germans like it did Union soldiers

Shortly after I finished my enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1973, I worked for a spell installing cable TV on James Island near Charleston South Carolina. At that time, I had no idea that I was working in an area rich with history. It wasn't until years later that I began to study the Civil War and realized the opportunity that I had missed to go to the actual battle sites.

Great story-telling, Ron. As I look thru your photos, I continue to reconsider this one. Lt. McKee looks so "Modern" and almost current. The clean shaven face, his contenance and bearing, do the most to melt away the decades, as we admire his service. Thank you.
