Unfortunately this happens more than people realize. Setting up a college fund, a lawyer will always tell you to put it in a parent's name instead of a child's name. Some families have no scruples and dig into the accounts for any number of reasons. But until the law changes it that all withdrawals are to be made out to an educational institute only, this kind of thing will continue to happen.

My mother's name went on the money. Jeepers anybody else see where this is going? Anybody else think grandma is not going to let this slide?<br>He' s got a family coming..........someday. WTF does that have with stealing a $187K college fund? He is the only one that matters in this family?

Wouldn’t have been twist in the story if the mom actually got to go to school through the scholarship program? She was denied, and stopping the cycle with her included could be a greater victory.
