I reside in the Japan Alps, in a resort town. This area becomes excessively crowded several times a year; specifically Golden Week (late April/early May) and Obon (mid August) plus several days before and after. If you need to shop, get out and back before 11.00 as the roads become gridlocked. Other than that, no worries. When you're retired not a problem, just get a few bottles and sit it out. For wage slaves it's a different matter.<br>Hot tip, no rainy season in Hokkaido.<br>Avoid December, January, February unless you're here for skiing.<br>In this neck of the woods, we've already seen -13C this year.<br>Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
