i definitely agree with the whole "this is not fun to discuss" part. i miss when people talked about actual story points instead of calling people stupid because they do or don't believe the books.

Imagine a world where we didn’t find out who purple guy is through a spin-off book

I genuinely don’t care what the answer is anymore, I just wish Scott would say something about it

Scott needs a... what do they call it in TV/Film writing? Apparently it's just "Bible" but can also be "show Bible" or "Pitch Bible."<br><br>For FNAF it should be a Lore Bible. I get the impression Scott is so worried about people solving the lore that he will only give developers some details about what he wants, and then those cam be misinterpretted.<br><br>But he could make developer companies sign NDA's and track all the details. "Okay, the MCI was 5 kids, unless I decide to add more. There was a Bite of 87. It probably wasn't Balloon Boy. I reserve the right to change it to Balloon Boy. The Crying child was killed in 1983. William Afton was the perpetrator of the MCI." This could help reduce inconsistencies. If the goal is to reduce inconsistencies. And if those details could be trusted to others

I think a major issue regarding the debate is that the motivations don't align with the positions of "I think this is/isn't canon" and rather "I don't want this to be canon" vs "I am fine with this being canon." Amusingly this would mean that the arguments are closer to how biblical canon was decided.

It's so refreshing to have people actually say and show how any point of view makes sense and it's not people coping if they do or don't believe the books are gameline, since FNAF has been giving us mixed messages. They make a game based on a book, it doesn't work; they tease a game about a book, they change it. I do believe that RTTP is the most congruent version with the games, but it still doesn't help much. People have reasons to believe what they do, and that's okay. Nobody should be getting mad about it. And I also agree that Scott is the only one that can definitively say if the books are canon or not, and how much they are congruent with the games or not. We deserve an answer, but I understand Scott if he feels he shouldn't do it... <br>This video is very good in portraying several viewpoints in compelling ways! It just makes it refreshing among the newer stuff going on. I HATED those posts where people said "erm, then Sister Location isn't canon bc..." just because you DARED to propose the idea that maybe the ITP game wasn't canon... 🙄<br>Anyway, amazing video!

At this point people are even questioning whether Fnaf 1-6 are even canon which is wild to me I’m not the books hater but to even say that “Oh Scott is retconning the games or that the games are no longer valid in the Fnaf lore as Scott is fitting his new ideas and replacing the old ones” is such a reach to me for people to fit the books in their lore agenda. Until Scott or steel wool comes out and says that Fnaf 1-6 are no longer canon, I will prioritize the games as canon over any of the other media of Fnaf 9/10 times.

I love your thoughts on fnaf. The toxicity is annoying. People are getting mad over their head cannons. Half of fnaf is just theories, and people shouldn't be mad over others' opinions. Until the creator says otherwise, people need to stop being toxic

I hate the books mostly cause of what they’ve done to the upcoming game. The whole debate of whether SOTM will prove the books canon or not is really ruining the enjoyment of just the game itself. The problem is that the game CANT prove the books canon cause that results in:<br>1. If SOTM is a direct retelling of the stories that a dedicated part of the community already knows about. It would make the game predictable, boring, and not that interesting to progress the lore.<br>2. If it’s a continuation of the book stories, it would force the other large part of the community to now go out and buy mandatory readings or be left missing details and confused.<br>The leaves Steel Wool with the only option of telling and retelling a new version of the mimic storyline which will inevitably introduce new concepts and contradicting aspects to keep things interesting for the whole of their audience. This will inevitably clash with the canon of the books and disprove them.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFOXPyDxdDo&t=165">2:45</a> to me this shows that Scott at least wanted some events to be in both worlds, but he hadn’t been clear about what is and isn’t canon or retelling
