Dude, I say this with every bit of sincerity: this is your best work yet. 56 minutes FLEW by, and I could have listened to you talk Hotline for another 56 if you wanted to.

Amazing work. I mean that from the depths.

I cannot BELIEVE that Hotline is coming up on "Classic Games" territory now. Where does the time go??

Great video! I'm a big fan of Hotline Miami but I never played the second one. This video reminded me to do that lol

I came because Johnny talked about it on his channel, but I subbed because this was GOOD

I would argue that Jacket is a great name for the Hotline Miami protagonist given that the violence in the game is almost something that you wear. You wear a mask in game, but you're also wearing a mask out of it by engaging with that level of violence by choice. You're opting to wear brutality like a..well..jacket.

By the way, ending the song with that nuke was the chef's kiss. Holy shit. I couldn’t have done it better. Perfection.

This is sort of an evergreen discussion, that of violence as entertainment. There is a strong suggestion this fascination is built into humans, though generally skewed more towards the male of the species, and we have precedence all the way back to gladiators in coliseum times to the more modern analogues of professional sports like boxing, UFC, MMA, etc. Outside of sports, there has long been intense romanticization of wars and the proverbial wild, wild West from filmmakers. Of course, like so many other facets, political airheads would rather performatively hand-wring and/or create a self-righteous crusade to ban the fuck out of everything than to find some way that might aid the citizenry of dealing with this aspect...tale as old as time.

I've come across these games from time to time, but they never seemed to click with me...at this point, though, I'm pretty content with experiencing them vicariously, such as through another of your brilliant videos.
