That saw cut makes mere mortals feel so much better for when we stuff up.

Rotate the round stock 90° when the bandsaw cut hits center. That way the straight starting cut becomes a blade guide. I.e. reducing blade drift.

I love the idea of the cut out on the female thread sample allowing you to see how good the threads interact.

As an apprentice toolmaker in the first year of my four year apprenticeship, i appreciated hearing you give props to your apprentice for his work ethic. Glad to see there is other people out there with the desire to learn more and better themselves 😊

I work in the cast iron casting industry. THE VERY LARGE SIDE 100Ton + castings for lifting eyes we use 4 inch thick cast-in eyes and cut them off with turbo cutters after they are loaded for delivery

I thought he was kidding when he said the cut was bad... then I saw it in the lather... 😮

I cringe in my woodworking when I turn a big board into a few pounds of sawdust. I'd probably stroke out having to turn almost 480 lbs of steel into chips. I assume it all gets recycled but wow!

Lucky to have your apprentice, fellows that want to and appreciate the opportunity to learn, have a smile on their face and don’t complain about much are hard to find . It’s nice you mentioned him and say thanks for doing a good job! That’s really important!
