Hello I'm a fellow Newfoundlander who grew up in Gander. My family was a big part of these events. My dad worked in the hospital during this time and my mom helped take a couple people in. My neighborhood all was there helping. Even though I was born after in 2002, I've always heard stories and felt the impact of what our town and surrounding areas did during this tragedy. At the end of the show when they brought back the "Come from Away's" on the 10th anniversary, I was there at the celebration. It was truly a sight to behold. Watching this show both online and in-person really makes me emotional and proud. I'm so happy you enjoyed the show, it's incredible!

 A perfect show!

A note on the Newfoundland accent - it’s very different from the standard Canadian accent. And you’re absolutely right, it’s heavily influenced by the Irish immigrants in the area!

This show is such an experience live! I've seen the proshot so many times before going to the theatre in person but the energy of the audience feeding into the performance is really something!

My favorite part of this musical is that you can cry at any part of the show. (And I have)

There were those who returned this year. Gander used to be one of the largest airports in the world. The airport predates the town. I grew up in Newfoundland and Labrador the Canadian Province. Gander was the international airport rather than the St. John's airport in the capital. Everyone who flew between North America and Europe used to pass through Gander. I was traveling with my parents to visit my mother's family in Ireland when I met a most famous person. Louis Armstrong was in the airpirt departure lounge waiting for the same flight to London.

A few fun facts, because I love this musical.

First, after reading the book about the making of this musical, I learned that there's only three pause points for audience applause (aside from the finale); the opening number, Screech In (the number they sing in the bar) and... the sexy cardiologists.

The other awesome thing about this show is that most (if not all) of the characters were directly inspired by the real people - they interviewed people who were acutally there, often directly taking their real-life stories and translating them to stage. For example, one of the Kevins wrote a book about his experience in Gander, the woman playing Beverly, (the pilot captain) is friends with the real Beverly Bass, and Diane and Nick's love story was taken from their real-life experience with few (if any) creative liberties taken. The real-life Diane and Nick Marsen have actually seen the show at least 160 TIMES. (The photo he takes of her at the Dover Fault is actually real, too! I've seen it!)

Seeing this show live (In Toronto, not on Broadway) was such an amazing experience. My dad took me. This show has a very special place in my heart, mostly because it's the ONLY musical that both my dad and I both enjoy. It's such a special show to me.

I had the great good fortune to be at the first preview of the show on Broadway, and again for the final performance when it closed. I got to meet a few of the real life folk from gander and come from aways. It is weird how I almost cry more on rewatches knowing what is going to happen than I did that first show.

“Be anxious for nothing” that part makes me cry everytime imagining not knowing the language or what has happened and being so anxious for over a day then this is how you connect with these people telling you its ok you can be anxious for nothing we have you.

Come From Away is my absolute favorite show of all time, and I've seen over 300 shows. In my opinion, it exemplifies all of the best aspects of live theater. The creativity of the sets, costumes, props, and actors all playing multiple roles is superb. Being old enough to have experienced 9/11 first hand, the story is powerful and extremely emotional. This show isn't as well known as many others and I think that's a crime. It's phenomenal!
