  That's is James Blunt Father in the video who was suffering from stage 4 chronic kidney disease. His Father had been a kidney donor already. After the release of the song a distant cousin came forward and was a match so his Father is still alive and doing well

  This really hits home with me. I also have stage 4 chronic kidney failure. I pray that my son feels this way about me.

  I held my dads hand as he passed. It's something I will never forget. I am glad  I was there. To chase the monsters away.

  Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad when I was 20, almost 40 years ago. That was also quite sudden. I used to cry regularly for about 5 years after he died. What helped me get over it, was realising through conversation with friends, that not everybody is lucky enough to have had a good Dad. I started to feel grateful for being so lucky, and afterwards when I thought about my Dad, it made me smile instead of making me feel sad, because I had all those wonderful memories. I hope you are able to find something in your memories of your Dad to help bring you peace.

  Please, there is no need to apologize. This is an emotionally powerful song. I'm sorry for the loss of your father. I lost mine 36 years ago and I still think of him every day. Time will soften the pain, but carry the love he felt for you and your family, and don't dwell on that final day. Many blessings to you and your family.
