The best and most detailed commentary that I’ve listened to relating to the Battle of the Bulge, the key individuals involved, and it’s impact on the final months, leading to the German surrender‼️

My dad was, by this time, a lieutenant in the 4th armored and he had earned his advances in the field, not in school. The details of this story that I have are a little different from what is being told here. My dad started a letter on December 16 and didn't finish it until December 28. He was in Patton's 4th Armored division in the 25th calvary mech. They were the ones who raced across France at remarkable speed. By this time he had not only earned rank but the silver star. He came close to losing his life twice by this time. This is irrelevant, but in my information it was Germany's coldest winter in 80 years. It was unbearably cold, and the tanks were all driving on ice. That may have turned out to be a good thing for the Americans. He spent one night next to a lit fireplace of a house that had been demolished except for the fireplace. He quit wearing shoes in his boots and would wear two pairs of socks and cardboard instead. The story that I heard or read was that the only one in the field at the time was Patton. The rest of the generals were sitting up in Paris in a hotel celebrating, and that included Eisenhower. On the 16th my dad was south of the bulge. On Christmas day he said that they were eating a turkey sandwich with one hand and fighting with the other. He talked about rescuing 3 American air force men who had been shot down on about the 23rd of Dec. around Bastogne.

The contrast between the silent tension in Eisenhower's room and the sheer scale of the 3rd Army moving is described perfectly.

Don't you have enough skill and intelligence to make sure you are not constantly showing photos of Bradley when you are speaking about every other general except Bradley

Lovely. Thank you. Just one thing: Pls avoid the unfounded, but jazzy hyperbole. The War could not have been possibly or remotely lost, even if the Germans had been successful in Bastogne and managed to take Antwerp over the bodies of millions of American, Canadian and British fighting troops concentrating there. In late December 1944, Russians were only tens of miles away from Berlin, France had been liberated, German cities, factories, transportation hubs--were burning rubble, the colossus of American industrial and demographic might was fully bearing on Germany at the Rhine crossing. You think a hypothetical and meaningless success by Germans at Bastogne would have changed all this and make them the victors of WWII? Dearest, what have you been drinking?

"The AI tag under the title should give warning of what is about to begin. INCOMING! This is another of a tidal wave of exploitive supposed history. TVH cannot even get the arrangement of Patton's helmet stars correct. No amount of pirated alamy images is going to help. Far too many images chosen with little regard to their suitability for the supposed history. Trash!

The Catholic church was on the Germans side, So you get one religion praying for both sides to win. If that doesn't tell you how asinine a god belief is, nothing will.
