When listening to Eric Burdon rap in "San Franciscan Nights" and "Spill the Wine" it's easy to forget that he's not an American. I was actually startled when I saw a clip of him speaking with an English accent.

Morrison and The Doors created some of the best music. Short lived but wow what a legacy on several albums, no one could compare to the Doors, no one.

The Animals are under rated and almost forgotten. In the 60s they were formidable. Sky Pilot is a gem that is still a masterpiece. I saw them 3 times in elementary school. The first time they opened for Herman's Hermits with Denver's Moon Rakers actually starting the gig. I was in 2nd grade. The next 2 shows i attended my parents made me come up with the money for tickets. I had to buy 2, one for me and one for my Mom. I washed cars and did odd jobs but i got the dough and went...6th grade. These were high energy shows that were ingrained in my mind. Years later i saw War. They were good but didnt have the charisma of the Animals. Chaz Chandler promoted Jimmy Hendrix or Jimmy's career may have taken a different trajectory. Only the Kinks came close to presenting pure hard rock. Thanks for telling part of Erics story. Listen to Sky Pilot with the bag pipes and war effects superimposed with the full string comeback and tell me these guys weren't genius and ahead of their time.

Timeline is off. "Spill the Wine" was released in May 1970. Morrison died in July 1971.
