  I own a SL1210MKII that I bought new ages ago. This turntable is still going strong. A couple of years ago I bought a SL1200G not because I needed a new turntable. It was a way for me thank Technics for bringing back an icon. I find it quite sad that it is going to be retired once again. Given that these are build like a tank I don&apos;t expect to need a replacement turntable. I will cherish both the MKII and G! As for cartridges, I use an Audio Technica OC9XSH on the G. It replaced an OC9III I had an &quot;accident&quot; with. The AT&apos;s are great carts and they are quite affordable. Excellent value for the money.

  This is a beautiful end to the legendary Technics 1200 model. &nbsp;As an owner of the less expensive Technics 1200 M3Ds, I can really appreciate the detail and upgrades made to the ME.

  The master series that there just came out with is absolutely beautiful. I know this would be a turntable for a lifetime because techniques really builds them exceptionally well. Their direct drive motor system has been upgraded to the best. I wish I had the money to invest in this one, the goal is this striking what I know about the audio files and turntables the cartridge is one of the most important assets to your turntable. I purchased a GR – two and it’s been a wonderful turntable. It’s quiet clear no noise to speak of. I can’t hear any and the sound is more than I expected. I’m really really happy with my purchase through skyfi Audio. Fernando really knows his stuff and they have the best calibration set up for your cartridge and turntable. It’s worth every penny.

  Yeah, this is a goodie. &nbsp;Short point: BUY IT!<br>I come from a history of SL 1200 Mk2. &nbsp;I currently run an SL 1200 Mk5 but I have also owned two SL 1200 Mk5g - The pinnacle of the older series. &nbsp;I put about 50 to 100 hours of work in perfecting the older series. &nbsp;Work on the feet (most important) but also the chassis, the bearing, the platter and way more. &nbsp;The reality is that for turntable perfection you have to do one of two things: Spend mega bucks on a high end turntable or get an older direct drive turntable and go back to simplicity. &nbsp;Near perfect rotational speed and near perfect vibration elimination. &nbsp;I have not heard SkyFi&apos;s offering but I am 99% plus sure this is the real deal. &nbsp;<br>This brings us to the cartridge. &nbsp;Yeah some good options presented here. &nbsp;I have run my optimized TT with BenZ Wood, Charisma, Ikeada 9tt. All good stuff. &nbsp;Oh do you need to have a cart with a price point that does justice to the TT? &nbsp; &nbsp;No , no, no and NO. &nbsp;$500, $5.000 whatever. &nbsp;Get a MC and end of story. &nbsp;I run with AT for value but Myiajima (or anything with a hardwood body) would be good).

  Obviously a model in-between the 1300G and 1000R will the coming at some point. I view an outboard power supply as mandatory in a serious high end deck. As far as the ratio of money spent &nbsp;on the front end, the arm is the real shortcoming. I heard a side by side shootout with 2 1300G&quot;s , one stock, one replaced with &nbsp;a Funk Firm FX3 arm &nbsp;&amp; the difference was simply stunning. As a collector, this is very cool &amp; sure an improvement &nbsp;but sonically I&apos;d seriously consider the 1300 &amp; allocating more of your budget on &nbsp;the arm &amp; cartridge. Btw, the Hana Red is a real giant killer.
