  Today August 22, 2013 marks the first anniversary of Charles Flores' passing. A wonderful friend, great bassist and Grammy winner. He is still dearly missed by all of us. Keep Swingin' in Heaven Charles!!!

  Michel Camilo is still, after 36+ years, an unsung “DaVinci-type” hero and revolutionary jazz pianist.  Well, who among the gods are recognized until they are dead.  Doesn’t matter. He has made his mark for now and for all time.  And for that, as a listener, I am grateful.

  Michel, eres una BESTIA ! :face-turquoise-covering-eyes::trophy-yellow-smiling: I listen to Michel since many many years ago and every new performance I discover I'm getting goose  bumps... being it SOLO or with some VERY TALENTED musicians, it's always an incredible experience of joy, POWER and happiness. It feels specially good also when you see all those musicians having a really good time playing together, smiling together, acknowledging each other with such profound connections. It's such a privilege having them on this planet.

  I am 70 years old. I have been listening to jazz since I was 12. My first live concert brought tears to my eyes. By 70 you become dumb and nothing makes you happy. But this music pierced me through and through. It was magnificent. There is nothing to compare it to!

  I played a gig last night with a wonderful big band and it was my 80th birthday. I was in a great mood and I wanted to unwind so I found this video, OMG, blew me away......Life is good..

  Usually this is a trumpet driven piece, but as often we've seen, whoever has the "chops" can take the lead. But its' beauty is that it allows solos within the piece!

  I’ve been a big fan since his very first trio album and bought every single CD ever since….made a point of turning others on to him including my old barber, a couple of pianists & drummers I work with. He’s a monster jazz artist, his technique is flawless and his musical ideas are incredible, plus he’s a gifted composer.
