South African here, I was in high school when the Sediba skull was put on show at the Iziko museum, and our Bio teacher took us to see it :) The bottom half of the skull was still encased in rock. I felt like like such an important moment in history to witness with my own eyes

The fact that the local language's name for the Lucy skeleton is dink'inesh meaning "you are marvelous" is very moving

Proof that Lindsey is a true Southern Californian. The temperature drops only JUST below 80 degrees and it's time to break out the winter clothing. 😂

Referring to Berger's son who found Sediba's collarbone as "living juvenile hominid" was really funny, really cute, and reminds you how this really is the history of our distant relatives. We're just recent hominids studying not so recent hominids. :)

17:58 - "They use them for removing body parts from their rivals" sounds so much more evil than others ways you could describe it 😅

Man I remember back in 11th grade anthropology. First day the teacher asks the question "does anyone know what species Lucy is?" Not really expecting a proper answer. I grew up watching Walking with Apes so I answered "australopithecus afarensis". Ppl in the class were surprised, but my teacher jus gave me a look and said "africanus" and went on woth the lesson. Dude later admitted he thought I was tryna smarter then I actually was. smh. Still got the highest grade in the class on the final exam lol

I’ve actually recently seen the fossils of Lucy and the Taung child in The Czech National museum and it was honestly kind of moving
