  “May the bridges I burn light my way.”  I’m living in a remote village three hours out from BKK coming up on seven years.  I think most expats would scratch their head and wonder, “WTF?” looking at where and how I live.  When we need our fix of the high life, we take Emirates and fly back to the U.S. or stay at a five star hotel in BKK, etc., we definitely don’t feel like we are missing out on anything.  I wouldn’t trade this simple life one bit.

  I'm in Phitchit province. Your story is close to mine. Did it 3 years ago and more. Ponds, fish and planting tropical plants. I'm now trying to become the dragon fruit king. 555. My wife and her retired teachers travel all the time. If it was just me I could survive on 1000 usd. My next favorite thing is get on the cheap train and go to markets. Just watch people and talk when I can.

  Moved to rural Thailand 3H from BKK for three years ago. Norwegian married Thai for 40 years. The intention was to settle our retirement in North of Portugal, but in 2020 an &quot;opportunity&quot; aroused and we bought this place/farm with two houses. House in a hilltop looking out over a beautiful valley. The learning curve for me living rural have been steep but things are getting more “comfortable” and likeable for a 72 year ... 😊 <br>No animals yet hence focusing on vegetables grown ecological and plenty of assorted fruits. Chicken is our next project when electrical and new kitchen is sorted. Have a fish pond and fish is plentiful. My youngest son lives in Canada B.C. and the oldest remain I south west coast of Norway. Our days are filled and wished our daytime could have been longer. <br>As of now we have not looked back. When in place like HuaHin 2H ride from here for needed merchandise etc. we cannot come back sooner. <br>Take care and all the best of luck and yes retirement here economically wise is favourable from a high cost and high tax homeland. Don’t miss it at all.

  ดีแล้วที่สร้างรั้วค่ะ เป็นเรื่องปกติในไทยนะ (ทั้งในเมือง และ ต่างจังหวัด) รั้วบริเวณรอบๆบ้าน <br>มีไว้เพื่อบอกอณาเขต &nbsp; เพื่อป้องกัน ไม่ให้คนแปลกหน้าเข้ามาประชิดตัวคุณ รึ ภรรยาของคุณ <br>(แม้ว่าเมืองไทย จะมีคนใจดีอยู่มากมาย แต่ ทุกที่ มีทั้งคนที่ดี และคนที่ไม่ดีปะปนกัน <br>และบางครั้ง มันก็ปกติมากที่คุณจะไม่รู้ว่า คนแปลกหน้านั้น...อันตราย รึ ไม่อันตราย)

  Found your channel last weekend and binge watched all weekend. &nbsp;I enjoy seeing the cultural differences and Thai way of life. &nbsp;Also, the progress you have made on your properties in such a short time is amazing!

  Just found the channel and subscribed. Very relatable. I started off with a condo by the beach for a few years , but now semi living in rural surin with my fiancé in her inherited family house complete with random unknown guests 😅 does take a lot to get used to and it’s certainly not for every farang

  Just found your channel. Spot on, I like real. Yes, I subscribed. I bet your budget can be a third of your expectations once established. I made the move with a very small carry on. From just one video it is tough to get a read on a person. But you seem down to earth. &nbsp;Rural Thailand has so much to offer that most will never see. I hope you get to see it all. If Thailand bites you, which I hope it does, you will find true peace.
