As a veteran, a good cook who cares and someone who doesn't give a shit is the difference between me having a good 9 month or a bad 9 month deployment.

"You got no flavor on this plate" I have no idea Gordon Ramsey was in the Navy.

No joke, I love watching military cooking as much as navy seal or special forces videos. They are crucial to our military.

I was active duty Army from 06-12 i served in Iraq and we had a very small Dining Facility connected to our airfield. They fed us like kings in there. A good cook can immensely boost the morale of a unit. Thank you to all the cooks across all branches.

That instructor is really good. Honest and up front with them and very encouraging. He is a real asset to the military.

Oh. My. God. These kids are starting from zero. These instructors have infinite patience. There would be casualties if I had to teach how to make spaghetti and saw those plates.

So sad... the trainee at 22:52 died in April of 2025.. (I did a search to find out where in the fleet these guys may have ended up and was shocked to find his obituary.) Trey Shawver. RIP. Thank you for your naval service.

"We prefer people with no culinary experience" Amen. I recall almost thirty years ago on my first day of five years at Culinary School/Hells Kitchen in Europe, Chef said with a straight face: "Forget everything you thought you learned from any body and do as you are told, when we are done with you , you can make your own bad habits" I loved that school and our "Masters" as they are called there.
They taught us discipline, self reliance, excellence and innovation.

I remember after 9 months in Afghanistan getting on the USS Lexington to go home. It was 4am and I was alone in the dinette and a navy cook came and asked me if I wanted breakfast. He made me the best steak and eggs Ive ever eaten in my whole life. Thank you Navy for taking care of us devil dogs. Semper Fi
