Gibson made around 1,200 sunburst Les Pauls between 1958 and 1960. Sadly, only about 2,000 survived.

I've seen enough videos documenting and authenticating 'bursts to know for certain that I have no idea if it's original or not.

It's illegal to pick up a 59 burst and not play a Zeppelin riff, so I'm glad you got a few in for safety

You did a thorough documentation. I was with a friend who took his '59 burst to Carter's in Nashville in August, 2019. They opened the shop an hour early for him!

We were able to go into the back with the techs. They authenticated it in the same way you examined this one. I say again you did a good job.

His was completely original except for the tuner keys, which had shrunk like one still on this guitar. Of course, he kept the originals with the guitar.

His was in a little better condition than this one. It sold for a little over $300K. We believe it went to a buyer in Australia.

Thank you!

I admire your ability to not fanboy the shit out of this. A level headed and objective view of the guitar.
I know I wouldn鈥檛 be able to contain myself

I鈥檓 not especially interested in the vintage/authentic instrument world, but this video has been expertly put together and brilliantly narrated. Very enjoyable.

That was purchased by George McFly for his future son, Marty, to honor his good friend Calvin who rocked the house at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance in 1955. True story.
