Awesome review! I would like to add that NextUI has a deep sleep function built in, so unless you absolutely need to turn it off, you should only press the power button once (instead of holding it), the leds will blink for a bit then after a couple minutes it will sleep and the leds will turn off. The deep sleep is kinda like hibernation on a PC. It drains the battery very slowly and when you want to play the game it wakes up almost instantly.

the people i turned on to the TrimUI smart pro was funny, bought 1, showed my friends, ordered 3 more, set them up. hope up 2 weeks, ordered 7 more for there friends/fam/kids ended up showing them how to turn old phones into emulation machines. showed them if they have old samsung phones that might have dex can hook to monitors. its so funny when someone in the late 30's early 40's see's snes in the while, they light right up

The Brick is easily the best small handheld I’ve used. Paired with the Retroid Pocket 5 and I’m set.

I really love my Brick but much prefer Knulli for the CFW. I did try both MinUI and NextUI as well. I play mostly GB/GBC and GBA on it since that is mostly what I play.

My red TrimUI brick has been my handy little EDC for a while now. NextUI really is a game changer as the ultra standby mode really does make this a true to form handheld I can actually use reliably instead of relying on just turning it off each time. Plus, the in-built media player allows me to seamlessly watch videos on it, which is very nifty. In a way, NextUI turns the Brick into a modern day MP3 player or iPod variant like the good old days. It is really fun watching some random movies or anime I've ... sourced throughout the years on a gameboy shaped object, lol. I would have foamed at the mouth if I had this as a kid.

I have collected some other staple micro SBC handhelds such as the Miyoo Mini V4, the Anbernic RG28XX, and the MagicX Mini Zero 28. But time and time again, the TrimUI brick ends up in my hands the most. It's not perfect. Due to the placement of the metal back plate, the Brick does get rather warm depending on the game you're playing, and where you place your fingers. But it never got worryingly hot, nor did I feel the game's performance throttled from prolonged sessions. I'm also not a super huge fan of the shoulder button shapes either. The keycap idea is really nice, but the the ergonomics leave a bit to be desired. But aside from those minor things, the Brick really does have it all in regards to the vertical form factor and feature set. It's got Wifi, Bluetooth, a headphone jack, a decently powerful processor, a beautiful screen, great build quality, good CFW support options, comfy form factor, and a variety of colors to choose from. The Brick is the closest thing to my Goldie Locks "just right," if you will. At least in regards to the Vertical Gameboy form-factor. Right now, I'm heavily considering picking up the Brick Hammer since it's just an all-metal version of an already fantastic handheld. But I think I'll wait for some more color options before I make that purchase. I'd love to have a metal Red or Purple color. Either way, I think the Brick (with NextUI or Knulli installed), would make for a fantastic first SBC handheld for somebody interested into getting into this hobby, or a great gift for that gamer in your life who thinks they have everything, lol.

Wow. I may buy this device. Currently I am planning on my 10 anniversary Odroid GO. The best thing about it is the quick saves and if you want to reload, you just reboot the device. If Odroid release a version with better screen, internal DAC and headphone jack that would be the perfect handheld for me.
