At points it feels like she is the only adult in the room, contrasting with her low height and high pitched voice.

I was surprised to hear Bernadette is not liked by many. I always enjoyed her scenes, her jokes and her ability to yell at anyone. The way she delivered story of signing co-workers get well soon card with rather nasty note still cracks me up. I like the actor as well.

In defence of Bernadette's 'control' over giving Howard a chore chart and an alowance- he was such a man child that he would not contribute to the household tasks and expected Bernadette to fill the role of mother and she had to do all of the tasks on top of a very demanding career. He'd never been encouraged to look after himself (like how you may get a chore chart as a child) and whilst it's hyperbolic because it's a sitcom, it was necessary to prevent a dynamic that would fester and cause issues long term. Howard also had a very childish view of money because he had never lived outside of his mother's house where all bills are taken care of, and would make wild financial decisions without discussing it with Bernadette like spending $5k on a 3D printer. In a relationship where you're contributing to the bills, being financially reliable is very important. Maybe an allowance is a more exaggerated version of this and hyperbole that comes from it being a comedy show, but he needed an intervention that showed him the importance of the value of money and that he can't just spend it all because his wife has a good job. You're never going to see actually real relationships in a comedy show because the main point is to make you laugh rather than being very realistic but without those interventions, Howard wouldn't have grown up and Bernadette would have hated all that extra work

One of my favorite moments in the show is Bernadette saying 'I bet I can make that girl president' in reference to Penny becoming a sales manager at their workplace

The reason Howard never breaks out of his cycle with his mother is that he doesn't want to. He spent a large part of his courtship with Bernadette trying to convince her that his relationship with his mother was not only normal but something she should embrace as a part of him. Bernadette's relationship with Howard became more controlling because she settled for him. Remember, she was planning to break up with him right before he proposed. None of her reasons for wanting to break up with him went away. They just festered. She had to become his mother in order to make the relationship with Howard sustainable. She recognized this, and it's why she was so hesitant to have children with him in the first place.

Amy is my favorite charcater because she is weird, intelligent and really funny. I like how she's a WAY better autistic representation than Sheldon could ever dream to be.
I am puzzled about people not liking Bernadette, her ruthlessness and control over everyone makes her an incerdible character.

I feel some injustice regarding characters like Bernadette or Monica in Friends. They are controlling, competitive, perfectionist, etc. And by the end of the series the writers make them simply unbearable.
They carry their friends/family sometimes, are given a lot of responsibility and then shown as critical and unhappy about everything

I think we forgive Sheldon more because his nastiness blows up in his face more. We see Sheldon's meanness blow up in his face in funny ways more often than we see with Bernadette. We see Sheldon lose the Physics Bowl because he refused to accept his teammate's answer. We see Sheldon get fired for insulting Mr. Gablehauser and his mother had to bail him out. We see Sheldon get Howard's paper spitball get stuck in his throat. We see Sheldon get drunk and take his pants off while presenting about dimensions. We see Sheldon go to jail after insulting a judge. We don't see as much of this with Bernadette.

Bernnie throwing Penny under the bus over wedding dress debacle is one of the funniest moment in the show.

Bernadette is my absolute favorite character in the show. I think she is such a great representation of what happens to adult woman after we suffered parentification as children. If we were not in control, nobody in the family would eat, shower, take their meds, etc., so as adults, control is the only safe place for us. I'm truly sad that people find her annoying, I didn't know. I give her 5 stars all around!

"Bernadette takes care of the world around because deep down she doesn't believe it can't take care of itself"

I'm crying, it's 8am and I'm crying over a BBT video.
