  That&apos;s so messed up that they would throw a good soldier and good man under the bus and put a stain on his name just for the sake of added drama for entertainment.

  Years before I entered the military, my Father told me, &quot;There is an ***hole wherever you go.&quot; BOB took this idea and went with it for Cobb. I always thought it was heavily off with Cobb, and I extremely praise your work with this giving Cobb the respect he deserves.

  Long &apos;Hollywood&apos; track record of misrepresenting real soldiers in history. Perhaps the most outrageous example is Private Hook from the film Zulu (defence of Rorkes Drift 1879 ): In the movie, Private Hook (played by James Booth) is: a thief and malingerer, Imprisoned for stealing livestock, cynical, resentful, and openly hostile to authority. The real man was not a criminal, was not imprisoned, was not malingering, was assigned to the hospital because he had been on duty and was unwell (likely exhaustion or illness, not cowardice), fought exceptionally bravely during the defence and was awarded the Victoria Cross<br>The screenplay (by Cy Endfield) deliberately reshaped Hook for narrative reasons: to create character contrast with the upright Bromhead (played by Michael Caine) and Chard, (played by Stanley Baker) to inject class tension (a common Endfield theme) and to give the audience a redemption arc. Unsurprisingly, Henry Hook’s family were furious, regimental associations criticised the portrayal. Modern . historians almost universally regard the film version as unfair and inaccurate. A man awarded Britain’s highest gallantry medal was turned into a coward-thief for dramatic convenience. - wankers. <br>By the way, Zulu is a great film and &nbsp;generally regarded as historically very accurate, which makes it worse

  Thank you. &nbsp;My late father was absolutely furious with how Cobb was depicted in Band of Brothers. &nbsp;He stated that as with many who escaped through alcohol, Cobb when he exceeded his limit could be obnoxious but always honest and the man you would want at your side in combat.

  My wife, son and I just finished rewatching B0B for probably the sixth time. As much as I love it, it is sad that so many of the characters were so completely maligned by Ambrose and the series writers. If I was related to any of these men I would have been royally PO&apos;d.

  Thank you for clearing up the life of Roy Cobb. &nbsp;Roy&apos;s portrayal in Band of Brothers. He was not shown in a very good light unfortunately. This ultimately was not the real way Roy Cobb was during his service in WW2. 💪🙏

  It’s crazy to make a real soldier a “villain” for a show when they knew he really wasn’t. If you need villains make fake ones.
