  Don’t get rid of all your belongings but please declutter, don’t leave your hoarding for your children to take care of, and make sure they know where your important documents are.

  Simplify your life IN PLACE first.  Once you're free of the clutter and redundancies, you may not need to move to a smaller place.

  32 years ago we bought a smaller house with main floor laundry bathroom and master bedroom<br>on 20 acres. a barn, a garage, a workshop and two storage buildings. <br>I have 14 cats and a husky. The dog is free range. She goes wherever she wants. <br>in 2009 I had three huskies, had them harnessed together and they flipped me on my head and they gave me a concussion so we down-sized the dogs and one is enough. <br><br>Night before last a huge tree fell and took out another large tree (both bigger than I can put my arms around) <br>I spent most of yesterday with a chain saw and a truck. We have two pickup trucks and a Jeep. <br><br>I&apos;m 76, female, weigh 130 pounds <br><br>The best retirement plan you can make is to stay in shape. <br>Use it or lose it! <br>And don&apos;t own more dogs than you weigh. invest in cats.

  We thought we would immediately relocate upon retirement. But we can’t find the right place. Covid inflation made everything weird. Downsizing in our current area makes zero sense when you crunch the numbers. We have decided to just do nothing, and stay put for now. Doing nothing is an underrated tactic in my experience…😂

  Many retirement situations assume you are a couple. &nbsp;My husband died 24 years ago and I have no children, so nobody to help

  I have seen elderly single women have terrible life consequences from being sold a new HVAC system, huge overpriced roof jobs and electrical repairs. &nbsp;One friend is possibly going to have to sell her home now in her late 70&apos;s. &nbsp; Her plan is to move into a camper. &nbsp;An old one with three small dogs. &nbsp;Predator repair companies can do real damage to lives.

  When my husband and I lived in 650 sqft, we were the happiest. Now we heat &amp; cool 3400 sq ft, and maintain a 1/2 acre corner lot. As soon as my big dogs cross the rainbow bridge, we&apos;re out of here.

  I love this lovely, roomy house that I raised my children in. Taking care of it and the yard keeps me young. It is a paid-off investment that can help finance my nursing home if I need it. A newer, smaller house is far more cheaply made and would cost most of what I could sell mine for. No way am I budging.

  I currently own the home I will be moving into ( bought it planning for retirement). I will be selling my home in the town I work in ( and have NO TIES to) My lake cabin will be my home . Both are owned outright, my home sale will be my &quot;slush&quot; fund ( travel, any other upgrades) .Moving 2 to one story, 1200 to 600 sq feet . Already know what furniture is coming, what is being sold or donated , no moving expenses etc. I think the biggest thing is PLAN for the life you want.
