  That's one thing anime can do that the main games can't/won't do. Side games like this could be awesome especially if done similar to how the Pokemon Stadiums did

  This brings up basically why I love the anime versions of the Pokemon Contests. It gives the feel of a Pokemon League competition arc, but  still has its own unique vibe that isn’t just a straightforward “battle until the other Pokemon faints” fight

  Yeah i love these pokemon  battle  competitions especially the black and white  tournament arcs there were so much fun and interesting.

  they actually did one in XY, but it was a relay race. Ash used hawlucha, fletchinder, and noibat

  Honestly the Whirl Cup is localized to the Whirl Islands, and there were plenty of Battle Club tournaments in Unova. Considering Sinnoh PokéRinger served the same purpose for Staravia maybe they didn’t know how to switch it up for Unova

  I think the reason why the Pokeringer stopped after Sinnoh is because the Sinnoh Pokeringer episode is where people started to see that Ash's Staraptor's is just a rehash of Swellow. Ash also didn't need two early route region birds that did the same thing. I feel like if they were going to do another Pokeringer competition, maybe have Ash use a bird that's not an early route region bird like Staraptor and use a different Pokemon capable of flight whether a bird or a bug mon (e.g., Honchkrow or Vespiquen) and Paul could use a different Pokemon like Ninjask, Mothim or maybe Yanmega (if Team Rocket didn't take it). Also, this is where the "Ash gets an early route region bird" tradition started to show cracks.

  Episodes like these really bring the Pokemon world to life. I think the DP version of PokeRinger gets the edge due to Paul.

  My favorite one of these side tournements was the Whirl Cup. Basically a Water-Type only league style event, but that simple set up put Misty and Ash in direct competition with each other. Ash even had to bring in his Kingler to have enough Pokemon for the 2nd round. If anything I wish this arc went longer! Let Ash bring back Squirtle for an episode after getting to the 3rd round. Heck, they could have Misty bring back her Starmie to show how serious the competition was to her. It would have even showed that her sisters took that competition seriously enough to send Starmie bck to Misty, giving the whole thing extra weight and history.<br><br>There where so many good Water-Type only competitions around that era. Fishing Contests, Pokemon Wave Rides, the Fire Fighting Competition. Last one wasn&apos;t exclusively Water-Type since there was a team of Muk, but it was close enough... I just liked that these competions showed how varied the Water-Type could be despite it eventually becoming the most populated type. They were usually a good way to show Misty&apos;s passion to highlight her character too. Since we didn&apos;t have something like the contest or show case circuts yet like we did with May, Dawn and Serena.

  Honestly, it is my headcanon jessie and james eventually left team rocket and james became a famous pokeringer while jessie ended up fairly renowned at contests

  For the ring episode I always thought James should have won and he had so much fun he just leaves with team rocket forgetting to steal any Pokemon
