  In the summer of 1977, as a young teenager, I read Jaws while getting sunburned on Santa Monica beach. The following summer whilst getting sunburned on Santa Monica beach I read The Exorcist. The Amityville Horror and Salems Lot were also favorite summer reads. I guess Summer has always been prime horror season for me, along with fall...and winter...and spring 😂. Another good summer spooky read is The Good House by Tananarive Due.

  For a good throwback. I find a lot of Goosebumps books have a summer vibe. <br>Reader Beware, you’re in for a scare.

  Diavola is a great summer horror! It’s set in a haunted Italian villa, and ends in possession. Spooky 👻

  When i was a young teen, we all were going to church. I brought my book in the car, and i was walking into church holding my book (hoping i could sneak read). My Mom stopped me and asked &quot;what&apos;s in your hand?&quot; &nbsp;Then she saw what i was reading...&quot;Jaws.&quot; &nbsp;She marched me back to the car to get rid of the book. &nbsp;Yeah, i actually tried smuggling Jaws into church!

  One that I enjoyed about 10 years ago was Stephens King Joyland. It had some really good summer vibes to it. A great mystery was some horror vibes to it

  I just finished Burnt Offerings and have only begun The Elementals. I am obsessed with haunted house tropes and the summer scorching heat where like a hot bath your muscles go all limp noodle and as the slow creeping horror comes closer you know you should move, or run but your body has been lulled into not moving at all. Definitely makes me think of sipping mojitos the glass and your skin sweating as you drink. Love hearing your recs always adding more to my TBR.
