  Great times. I think this was the year when a Kiwi in their Admiral&apos;s Cup team came up to my old mate Harry James (then at Sparcraft) to talk to him about the new 16-braid Dyneema running rigging he&apos;d made for them.<br><br>Kiwi: &quot;F****n&apos; good rope this, Harry. What&apos;s it called?&quot;<br>Harry: &quot;Er, FGR.&quot;<br>Kiwi: &quot;Oh yeah? What&apos;s that stand for?&quot;🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣<br><br>And so a legend was born. FGR1 (Dyneema core/polypropylene jacket); FGR2 (Dyneema/Dyneema); FGPP (polypropylene) and EFBV (Even Better Vectran). Add to that rainbow jackets, which made identifying the right bit of string in the pile of mother&apos;s knitting on the cockpit floor so much easier, all the splices he designed and his later work with composite standing rigging. A true genius. Plenty of comedy moments too, as ropes divorced their shackles at crucial moments of a race, thanks to other riggers not knowing how to do the splices.🤣🤣

  When Cowes Week was thriving &amp; before it got taken over by corporate charters, but instead was full of yotties. Great times.

  Canterbury should bring back those trousers with the zips at the bottom of each leg. Loved my pair.<br>I managed to get a sail on Juno at the time. Brilliant.

  I&apos;ve always loved Juno and my own boat is almost identical to the earlier 3/4 tonner Juno. <br>Edward warden Owen and Cudmore on the same boat! bet that was lively.

  The RORC would not be too pleased to hear I almost lost the Admirals Cup when carrying it through Sydney Airport in 2003. Customs tried hard to confiscate it stating that the timber box and plinth was likely a biosecurity risk. After some tense moments and some very fast talking and we managed to walk out with it in hand. <br><br>I’m sorry the Cup has sat in Aus for so long and I’m very pleased to see the event has been resurrected. Congratulations to all involved in getting it going again.

  Wow, what great footage, spinnakers and spinnaker poles banging on the forestay, Canterbury footy shorts and rugby jerseys abound; and the commentary is very measured (polite and well spoken) as opposed to the shouting match commentating that is SailGP

  Please do a video on the 2001 Americas Cup Jubilee. There were so many historical yachts in the one event and there is hardly any footage of the regatta online. Even Australia II was brought out from a museum in Sydney and sailed by her original crew.
