It is well known and a historical fact that Abraham Lincoln believed that if and when freed, the former enslaved Africans would need to be repatriated to Africa or elsewhere, since as he put it, whites will never accept or be at peace with the newly freed slaves. The US even sent black Americans to Haiti and Nova Scotia, besides Liberia.
