  My brain operates under the Tavern being the bar/restaurant in town and the inn being a small place with 2 or 3 rooms for rent.

  yeah, thats why it suggests running them in order as the heroes can level up after completing a certain amount of the encounters.

  The only thing this starter set demonstrated to me is how most dnd games go with premade things and how much better Dave's way of DMing is. The improv and fluid way is so much less anxiety for everyone involved. I dont wanna be flipping through cards and books just to accurately depict the elvish (non-elf) himbo who they will ignore anway because he is so pretty.

The idea of inns and taverns being one and the same, or an inn having a bar on the ground floor, is largely a fantasy trope that isn&apos;t grounded in historical reality for that period.

  Hmm... Having separate Inn and Tavern is not that illogical. I mean - yes, it is if there is not that many people. But - host houses were a thing in medieval europe. They were often run by churches for pilgrims, travellers, homeless and infirm- they later evolved in two ways - some evolved into hotels/hostels and other evolved into hospitals. But it was understood as &quot;place of care&quot;. They were separate from taverns.

  Love this recently, new to dnd and purchased the set, dragging my friends into it who have never played so I have by default been tasked as the dm, good to see how things might play out

  We played our first ever DnD run with this starter set. I was so confused not knowing what to do as a DM. I thought we need a map on the table right away, so we directly decided to go to the trail and I instantly put the map on the table. Looking how you played it, you were talking and aligning an hour before even entering a map :D
