  American. I was happily surprised that sandwiches in Winchester, England were made using real (like homemade) bread. Once went to a bar (with 3 other American women) and we were kindly encouraged by the bartender to be comfortable on the other side of the bar that was partially walled off. We continued to sit at the bar and politely refused to move. I finally figured out (too late) that the women were expected to sit separate from the &quot;men&apos;s side&quot;? I was surprised at the small portions of expensive food at a restaurant, but found out it was plenty to eat anyway, so all was fine. Then... what the heck?? No screens on the hotel room window?? Open window with just a shear curtain blowing in the breeze. Imagine how glad I was that there were no bugs, flies or mosquitoes anyway. Loved my trip. Love the country.

Guess it&apos;s maybe not common, but an actual possibility.
