Switched over to this style of training after years of various ego driven injuries & agreed I love it so much! The sweat, the pump, the endorphin rush is immaculate! My stamina & conditioning for athletic stuff is awesome, Tho I found it’s rightfully very tiring at points so I have to make sure my work for the day is done before doing it cause afterwards I’m just fatigued so i always make sure I add my afternoon naps in 😂

High reps to failure feels SO GOOD mentally. Like a runner's high. That's the big selling point for me.

Never stop doing body weight training. Ever. I’ve always looked my best when I did some kind of a mix of training styles. Any time I’ve ever just specialized, I’ve suffered in other aspects.

the Low Back Ability guy sometimes says to "make the easy thing hard." That is, you take an easier progression, but do it with high reps or do it slow to make it challenging and able to take you to failure. That way you get the right stimulus but if you do fail, it's safe since you are doing it with an easy progression, and not with hundreds of pounds on your back.

Another thing I noticed when I used to do this kind of training years ago (usually for martial arts classes, our coach would have us do ungodly numbers of push ups, rows, lunges etc to get in shape) is that when you train like this regularly you sort of get a ''permanent pump'' look in your muscles. I reckon this is due to the body adapting by filling up with more glycogen and increasing blood flow to the area. The moment I stopped doing this kind of training 2-3x a week and switched to regular gym-bro style sets and reps my muscles deflated quite a bit, even though my numbers in terms of strength (in 8-16 rep range usually) were going up. This video has def made me think about returning to this style of training, time to cook something up :)

I'm in my mid-40s and low weight/high rep is what works for me. Going really heavy takes a toll on my shoulders, making me take extended time off to recover.

I couldn't agree more with this video. I'm a double below knee amputee that uses a wheelchair and prosthetics both to get around. I do a lot of bodyweight exercises to make transfers easier. I'm planning to incorporate the drop set method into my strength training regimen for added strength. Thanks for sharing this with us!!😊

This is such good news! I am not your typical viewer, I am female, 65 yo with a longterm chronic pain condition. I have been trying and falling to lift heavy and keep making myself feel worse. Now, I can stay with lower weight and add reps and sets instead. I also have a serious heart condition so HIIT zone 4 is off limits so I am opting for Zone 2 & 3 cardio and really ramping up mobility and flexibility (my weakest area). Your channel is closest to what I am aspiring to achieve. I will be ordering your ebook. Thank you for all the great free content. Love from Los Angeles.

This is the concept behind super slow advocates such as Doug McGuff who use slow slow movements with light weights to completely exhaust all muscle fibers. It is a very mentally exhausting process though as it goes to deep failure.

bodyweight exercise just means that you're training with the same weight and progress with more rep/frequency.

If you only bench with your one rep max for a long time without ever adding weight, eventually you keep adding more reps until it becomes an endurance exercise
