Ralph Stanley was my dads favorite banjo player. Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers, Jim and Jesse and the Osborne Brothers were and are the pinnacle of bluegrass music and set the standard for all bluegrass performers to follow.

Ralph Stanley is for me, the greatest. His banjo playing and ethereal vocals are on another level. Like other legends of Bluegrass music, Ralph will live on forever.

My dad suggested this video. He got me into bluegrass, especially The Stanley Brothers which was our favorite as well as Flatt and Scruggs. Many good memories of him and I spending time together listening to this music. I believe he got into it from his grandfather.
